Another successful Georgian Bay Regatta has come to an end. Thanks to the Georgian Bay Sailing Association (GBSA) Executive and the volunteers that comprised the Georgian Bay Regatta Organizing Committee 2011.

Meaburywood Challenge
The Meaburywood Race for the Clare Norris Memorial Trophy was hosted by the Thornbury Yacht Club on September 10, 2011
The races are scored under PHRF_LO, with divisions in White Sails and Flying Sails.

LEARN TO SAIL PROGRAMS
G.B.S.A. Sail Georgian Bay Starting in 1996, local children, summer residents, and holidaying families were treated to the O.S.A. BOOM traveling sailing school program at Meaford and Thornbury. Each year the length of the BOOM program was increased from one week to two weeks to four weeks, until it was evident in 2000 that it was time to have a permanent community sailing program. Over 80 people took the course in 4 weeks. GBSA applied to the Trillium Foundation to help fund a new program, and Sail Georgian Bay was born in the fall of 2000.GBSA offers a variety of courses to suit different age-groups, children and grown-ups, and skill-levels. The Collingwood Sailing School educates their students so they aquire the neccesary skills to safely handle small sailboats. They offer Canadian Yachting Association White Sail 1-3 and Bronze 4 & 5 during summer months at Collingwood Harbour. All the instructors are CYA certified.

CLARE NORRIS MEMORIAL
Held September 9th at Collingwood
Formerly MeaBuryWood Challenge)
The 13th annual challenge was held off Collingwood in 10-15 knot winds with 26 boats on course. Thornbury was represented by 14 boats and come away with the trophy by a close 1 point victory. The Thornbury Yacht club victory breaks the Collingwood Yacht Club 4 year winning streak.
The current standing over the 13 years are: Thornbury 7 wins, Collingwood 6 wins, & Meaford (Reef Boat Club) 1 win. This regatta is an open team race regatta with the top 5 finished counting from each club, The races are scored under PHRF_LO, with divisions in White Sails and Flying Sails.This event is sponsored by: Gyles Sails and Marine
